about to purchase the upgrade, i have my computer with free avast registered to my email, my girlfriends laptop registered to her email, and her desktop which has AVG, which i am gettin rid of.
My question is, i am assuming i get 3 different keys sent to me? to apply on 3 diff computers? or is that not how it works?, either way, do i need to uninstall her avast on her laptop and reinstall and re-register using the same email i am upgrading/purchasing from?
any input would be appreciated before i make the purchase… I am sure it is simple, just like to have it worked out.
You don’t have to avast free installed, just download the version you have paid for and install it on the three systems. Then with the license file you receive (single file, but multi-license) you apply it to each installation (you would need to copy the license file to each of the other systems).
Whilst the above support article relates to the Pro version, if you purchased the AIS (avast internet suite) the process is pretty much the same, just refer to the respective .pdf quick start guide.
OK , i am buying it through the upgrade button which gives me a discount… 2yrs 3pc’s 57$, so for her laptop i will have to take the free version off of her computer, install the internet version, and then apply the key, mine is just plug in the key and it will upgrade? or i need to install the internet version on mine as well? the 3rd desktop is easy, just install and apply key…
Yes, still the same really you will get sent an email with either the license file attached or a link to download it. That license file contains the license info/key/data so it can be applied to the three systems.
As far as upgrading a free installation, in theory you should copy the license file to her laptop and if you double click it that should be able to convert it (if you have an on-line connection.
For most people this has worked just fine, however, for some they had a hiccup, which requires a little more work to correct. Personally I would say download the AIS version and save to hard disk and do a clean install of the AIS version after an uninstall of the free and reboot (transfer it to her laptop and repeat the process).
