Hi, I have a question. On windows XP, it is necesary for using webshield with firefox, enable the localhost (there is a tutorial for that); but my doubt is if that is only necesary for windows 98-etc., or for windows xp…
Thanks!
Only for Windows 98 or Millenium.
Windows 2k or XP have transparent scanning (no settings should/need to be changed)
By the way, WebShield scans HTTP traffic regardless the browser you use 8)
Thanks for your quick answer!
I thought It didn´t scan my firefox, because only on iexplorer it opens a “popup” telling that webshields opens too.
Thanks.
No, you’re messing WebShield that does not have a popup (splash screen) at any browser and Script Blocker provider that could show a splash screen on IE.
In fact, Script Blocker does not work with Firefox.
For Firefox, better will be NoScript Extension.
Second the NoScript extension. I use that frequently and my wife hates it, cause you have to create a whitelist, but even with Firefox, rogue Java applets can try to install trojans and spyware :o
NoScript will block all Java on a site until you allow that site; it also helps to block quite a few ads, especially the annoying ones with sounds and inlaid popups >:(
Thanks again!!
