Should the absence of a Digital Signature on a downloaded file be considered suspicious?

For example: A while ago I downloaded the Norton Removal Tool 21.0.0.14 from Softpedia, TechSpot and MajorGeeks.
Only the download from Softpedia has a Digital Signature.
Why don’t the other 2 downloads have a Digital Signature? Should they be considered risky?

Lately I had been having trouble downloading an intact version of Norton Removal Tool. I kept getting “File corrupt” when trying to run it.

I think both things are related: the corruption of the file shows it as not signed, i.e., breaks the signature.

Hmmm??? Very interesting. I just checked the many Apps Setup Files that I have in my Flash Drive and while most do have Digital Signatures, some don’t. Heck, my copy of aswMBR 0.9.9.1771 doesn’t have a Digital Signature. Yikes!

Some of my other Apps Setup Files that don’t have Digital Signatures are AdwCleaner, FastStone Image Viewer 4.8 and VLC Media Player. I guess as soon as I can, I can try downloading them again to see if the next time around they show a Digital Signature.

Thanks, Tech.

Well, I think signing the files have a price that some developers can’t afford (or it does not worth…).
