access denied

::slight_smile: i recently downloaded avast from majorgeeks.com. and it keeps telling me that i have a virus, but when i try to either delete it or quarentine it i get get a message back saying access denied. what am i doing wrong?

Are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.

Access denied means, generally, that the file is in use by another process (program) and cannot be repaired/cleaned/moved/handled by avast!

Welcome to avast 8)

What file is detected as being infected and what is its location?

??? i am currently running windows me. so how do i get rid of the virus if avast can’t get rid of it. i have norton anti-virus, but when i run it, it tells me no virus were found. it’s some sort of trojan.

You must uninstall Norton completely before using avast in the same computer. They will conflict.
If NAV can’t detect it, or uninstall it and install avast, or use Ad-aware, SpyBot and HijackThis to see if you have any (or other) infections…

:-\ thanx i’ll give it another try
