It’s really weird. Before my I restarted my PC, Vaio Care Rescue showed up, I thought it deleted everything, but I forced it to reset, and it booted up normally, and everything is still here.
What’s the problem now? Action center claims that Avast! isn’t turned on. Please help. I’m scanning with MBAM to check for malware.
The Action center can be flaky at times, but given the other Vaio Care Rescue application you mention (No idea what that does), I don’t know if that might have had any impact on the avast installation.
If you check the Task manager are the avastUI.exe and avastSvc.exe running in the Processes Tab ?
If so avast is running, does it appear to be running, you have the avast tray icon, the icon reports your are secured and shields are running, etc. ?
If it isn’t running:
Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
You may need to reboot after the repair.
