action impossible in the scan report

Hello,

Since I have AVAST INTERNET SECURITY, after a scan when the scan report window appears, I can not choose an action to enforce. I have access to the menu with different choices, but can not select a row in the report, or click on Apply. I think this is an option, but which one? Could you help me solve this problem, thank you.

could you post a screenshot?

There is no infected item on the list… therefore, no action available.

and the decompression bomb ?

Just a notice of a file that hasn’t been scanned and the reason. Not that it is infected.

The name really is the most dangerous thing about this and I wish they would change it or simply not report it, a real PITA.

Please, consider http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=19387.msg607589#msg607589

Decompression bomb is a file that may be rather small, but decompresses to an enormous amount of data (when processed as a packed archive). Such file are not malicious per se, but they may block an antivirus program when it tries to scan them.
This kind of files is rather hard to detect (and avoid) precisely - so, it is possible that there are some false alarms. It’s not a big problem in this case, however - the “decompression bomb” announcement actually means something like “The file has a very high, maybe even suspicious, compression ratio and the AV is not going to scan the archive content”.

I’d suggest to ignore these files.

That is the best explanation of a decompression bomb (zip bomb) I have ever seen or heard.

Thanks! Probably I’ve learn it (copied it ;D) from another avast user/staff member

Thanks for your answer.

You’re welcome. Feel free to come back any time you need help or just to change experiences 8)

As long as you don’t unpack it, it’s fine.

Unpacking it isn’t an issue if the user chose to do so, as unpacked files would be scanned by the file system shield if the file when created is one that is an executable, at risk of or a target of infection.
