I was downloading a video on real player when avast said that it blocked the action because it had a virus, but after the download i can open real player and play the video. Does this mean that i have the virus now?
do you have the download link ?
break the link when you post it so we can not click like http as hxxp or www as wxw
hxxp://xwx.alhudapk.com/audio-video/tajweed/tqt2005-tajweed/audio/s1a1-7.ra
VirusTotal - s1a1-7.ra - 0/43

if you right click the avast tray icon and “show last pop-up” then click the pin in top right corner so it stays on the screen
Take a sceenshot and post it here
how do i post a screen shot on the forum?
lower left corner > Additional options > Attach
by the way what does 0/43 mean on the virus total website?
It means 0 viruses have been found, using 43 scanners.
How come i can still play the video when avast said that the action was blocked?
It looks like the Real updater was blocked, not the video file.
what’s the difference?
yep so it seems…and the file is clean, and i can not find anything with online scanners on the url
for a second opinion. you may check the comp for malware with this
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.51. http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
always make sure the program is updateded before you scan
click on the remove selected button to quarantine anything found
you may post the scan log here if anything is foun
alright, i will try it
thanks for your help
It isn’t that the file is infected, just that from its location and it being a dll, it is creating a registry entry item to run the RealUpgrade on the next boot.
So what you have to answer is, what initiated this command, e.g. did you just install RealPlayer or select the option to update/upgrade ?
When posting an image, please crop the image to just what is relevant not full screen, there are still people using dial-up and it cuts down on file size and the image can be opened within the topic not in a new window.
I believe real Player sets up to automatically update on install. Look in Preferences-Automatic Services to adjust settings.
A bit OT, but who needs RP at all…??
There are other (better…!) alternatives to view .ra files. (e.g.: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
