I am trying to activate a new account for Avast 4.x.
I have downloaded same, registered and have license key.
When I highlight the key and copy, I never see the blue ball at bottom of the screen. I am stuck here. I have windows XP and use Outlook 2000.
Any suggestions?

avast! icon missing - As a temporary measure until this is resolved you can create a desktop shortcut for this file C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe (the avast icon and interface to the providers). Right click on the file and select Send To, Desktop (create shortcut). You will need to run this after each boot until the problem is resolved.
What other security based software do you have that might block new startup entries, e.g. Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard or OnGuard), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc. ?
Check the option in the Appearance tab of Program Settings. Or Make a link to ashdisp.exe in your startup folder.
Is any other antivirus installed in this computer? Did you have one in the past?
yes, I have Regcure installed last year, but will have to check to see if this is still active.

Go to the SSL page version and register from there: https://secure.avast.com/scripts/register.php?lang=ENG
See the tutorial: http://www.avast.com/files/tutorials/insert_key.htm
Please take a look here: http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-invalid-license-number.html

Is your system date/time correct?
Do you use copy & paste method?
Are you sure you do not include the ‘last blank space’ in the paragraph while copying & pasting?
Which avast version are you trying to register (Home or Professional)?
