active x

can someone help please i have used avast for ages now but this last week it wont let me into my internet games. as soon as i am asked to install active x it comes up with alert adware found. this has not happened before and the site i use needs active x .please someone help

avast! does not use Active X.
The need should be into the site you’re visiting. You should think if the Active X is legit or not. avast! will only scan it and if it has a detectable infection, will stop the opening site (if you have WebShield provider of avast! turned on).
Can you post the link to that site (please add some blank spaces in the name to not post a ‘live’ link that could be infected).

You could scan the link with Dr. Webs browser plug-in linkchecker (free and only 10 KB install). If this says the link to the site is all OK, obviously come here to report, because we have to look into this. If this link is not safe (red spider, not OK), you know the reason why. You should report the webmaster of the site of an apparent infection,
