ActiveX: an Open Invitation for Spyware

Microsoft’s $521 Million Dollar Patch is coming.
ActiveX: an Open Invitation for Spyware

Hi bob3160,

First there will be a compatibility patch, wheras the official patch will be two days postponed. The only difference you get is the extra click to start it.
ActiveX was a bad idea anyway. Well they save this amount on the patch, don’t they. It is a patch with a golden rim then.

It is a patch with a golden rim then.
Yes, a golden toilet rim. ;D ;D

I have most ActiveX blocked and if it were not for MS Updates, all would be blocked.

This part of the article is not true:

sometimes without the user even knowing
ActiveX always asks to install the control by default unless you disable this in your options. This is an ongoing Myth about ActiveX and IE. People are getting drive-by infections from security vulnerabilities they never patched by running Windows Update and from not uninstalling MSJVM.
