what more better with AVAST PRO Edition?
AD-AWARE 2008 PRO or SPYBOT S&D?
This “debate” is well covered in threads like this one. Personally I would not bother with either because they are not very effective.
Better will be using SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator.
OK…
but what more better from that program?
AD AWARE PRO or SPYBOT S&D?
My choice of those 2 would be Spybot for it’s resident protect of the registry and it’s host file. Adaware is one I gave up on several years ago. I still use Spybot even though many here do not. I also have MBAM and Spyware Terminator for on demand scans. One thing good about Spyware Terminator is that, even though I use it as non-resident, it can be set to scan each day at a certain time.
EDIT to correct spelling.
Spybot (it’s free ;))
Have to go with Spybot if for no other reason it does not
have a permanent running process like Ad-Aware.
I really have a problem with that.
A-Squared default also runs a2free.exe as resident,
but you disable it if you run as Administrator.
The Ad-Aware thing can not be.
Dear old SpyBot,long in the tooth, but still useful.
Run SpywareTerminator than. It’s better than ad-aware and Spybot.
In Spybot, the only resident is TeaTimer (not enough protection though).
First of all these two do not really have the same perspective and abilities to deal with malware. I would say AD pro is better then SB but this does not mean that i would recommend it for any reason. Avast is enough for real time protection but as a second back up scanner you could use SUPERANTISPYWARE free with no realtimefunctions and once a month do a thorough scan with DR WEB CUREIT . Mind that all these are free.
When i do scans with both they only find some cookies and nothing else.
Sorry Tech,I miss used my terms.
I did not mean real time protection,
I meant that Ad_aware,when ran as a on-demand scanner,without the Ad-Watch
real time module, still has a permeant running process visable in task manager.
Unless the Tea-Time is activated in Spy-Bot it does not have a permenate running process.
The one in A-Squared free to enable non-Adminstrator accounts to use the software, can be disabled with administrator rights with no harm.
The Ad-Aware process if disabled will prevent the program from loading.
That is what I have a problem with,on-demand scanners with permanent running process’s.
I really have rethought the whole real time anti-spyware thing, and no longer feel
a need for it.
Avast plus on-demands seem enough.

It’s a useless service… just taking resources and offering no protection at all… ![]()

SpywareTerminator is not a solution either.
You can use MBAM.
