Ad-Watch 07 (lavasoft ad-aware) & Avast 4.7 Home Ed. Conflicting?

Hello,

I have been using Avast Home & and Ad-Aware for several years now without any issues.

Just recently I upgraded for the first time to Ad-Aware 2007. I noticed a new feature called Ad-Watch which I believe is a real-time protection against spyware / malware and malicious software.

However, as far as I know, avast 4.7 Home Ed. also has real-time protection.

So, I am now wondering, will the 2 applications conflict? (Currently I have Ad-Watch disabled.)

Thx in advance!
ABH

No, both applications won’t conflict.
Although, I can’t stand on Ad-aware nowadays… seems a weak antispyware.

Thx for your quick response. So even though both have real-time protection they will not conflict?

What anti-spyware would you recommend in that case? Ad-Aware seems fine with me. I also use (occasionally) Spybot - Search & Destroy.

Be used to avast forum speed.

No, they work fine together.

avast is an antispyware application too.
Also, you can test SUPERantispyware and/or Spyware Terminator.

but for now avast 4.8 is beta and 4.7 version doesn’t include module anti-spyware…

Well, it won’t conflict either with 4.7 or 4.8.

Be aware that the “Ad watch” function in AdAware2007 will, like the previous SE version, only work in realtime if you buy the program.
(That wouldn’t be my preference. I think there are better.)
Otherwise it’s just a demand scanner. Antispyware applications tend to have a different type of scan engine, so generally don’t conflict with most AV’s.
Avast co-exists with almost everything I’ve had installed in the way of security software.

And even then, it’s not a good one… Too much (services, resources, etc.) for nothing…

I must agree Tech.
Sorry to say, its a worthless piece of software. I have had bought Plus-version - because of Ad Watch realtime monitor- in September 2007 (after Vista ready announcement) and have had troubles on and on (updates, def-dates were false, authenticity verified failures - red cross after update forced a de-/re installation, and at least no significantly support).
