After scanning my device Avast found a possible malware (it was the apk of the root installer). I’ve tried looking for a way to add this file to some sort of exception list but could not find any option for that. I’m only able to or delete the file or report it as false positive.
Is there a way to flag a file as safe or mark it has an exception when scanning?
Something like “I know this file is potencially dangerous but I still want to keep it so please stop warning me about it”.
Is this feature possible or planned for a future release?
we are thinking about adding this, but it’s not that simple. Users tend to believe in themselves and might try to add actual malware to the exception list. Then would forget about it and complain about having high bills cause of uncaught malware. If the root installer is considered a PUP, you can turn those off in the application settings.
True, that is one of the downsides of permiting an exclusion list. Maybe a popup warning would give the end user some responsability for their actions, and/or reseting the exclusion list from time to time so the user would have to confirm the exclusion again.
Doesn’t the desktop version of Avast allow exclusions?
