Need help on how to add firewall into ais, as didn,t install originally as have zone alarm pro and will be uninstalling as expired.
Also when i open avast user interface its shows virus definitions need to be updated with orange exclamation mark. Version 110417-0 with update button next to it, but when try to update it downloads and says definitions already up to date, a bit puzzled by this.
Any help will be great.

- Definitions - should go away with next reboot
- Uninstall ZA (if there is a special ZA-Uninstall tool, use it - search their website for it)
- To add FW in Avast: start the install-program (Control Panel → add / remove programs), select “Custom” (or “Change”, don’t know exactl wording at the moment) in the left menu and select FW to add.

You can (and I would recommend to) download the AIS version 6.0.1086 (very stable pre-release) by clicking on the bold, blue AIS in my signature.
Just install - no need to uninstall current version (I presume you are running 6.0.1000).
There are some bugfixes incorporated in that version.
prior to upgrading from 6.0.1000 to ais version 6.0.1086, removing pro zone alarm firewall and adding ais firewall(which all went smoothly) noticed in ccleaner startup section enabled
“Yes HKLM:Run avast5 “C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\avastUI.exe” /nogui”.
Have had no problems using version 6 and notice this says no gui, so want to find out if this can be disabled and deleted, or is it required for version 6.

That startup is required for the gui to work on avast so i would not stop or delet it.
