Adding Steam to Avast exclusion list doesn't work

Hello. I’ve added the whole Steam folder (app and games folder are the same) to the exclusions but when I download games via Steam, Avast starts scanning continuously and it breaks my download speed badly.

Bare in mind that I have a 1Gbps internet connection speed and Avast kills it because it’s not fast enough to scan or because my HDD is already highly solicited by the download and can’t do both things at the same time (download and scan).

It’s very annoying since i have to stop Avast each time i plan to download something. This happens only when i download from Steam. Doesn’t happend when i download via bittorrent - it doesn’t start scanning.

Have you tried a reboot after adding and test again?

Yes, i have. This happend for a time now (months). I’ve decided to post here now.
I think it’s a process running in background that avast doesn’t ‘like’. I installed avast multiple times since I reinstall the OS regularly, once in a few months.

This happens on Win 8.1 and Win10.

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

-Avast Free
-Version 10.3.2225
-Win8.1 x64, Win10 x64 - all up to date. I reinstall the OS on a regular basis (once in 3 months, clean install).
-I’ve been using avast since 2003. Never used another AV before.

Might be a bug, wait for one of the devs and/or submit a ticket: https://support.avast.com/Tickets/Submit

Thanks. I’ll do both: wait for devs to respond and submit a ticket.

OK, you’re welcome.
