ADNM 5 beta?

Dear Alwil team,

with the close release of the home/pro version of Avast 5 i would love to know when there will be beta/RC programs for the ADNM and what will be changed
in there

thank you

is there anything at all to tell about a possible beta or rc and which OS’s and plugins are in the package?

im planning on deploying exchange 2010 in the begin of next year and it would be absurt to posepone that because my antivirus doesnt work with it

The planned release of avast! 5 will only cover avast! Home / Professional (and the new Suite).
The server editions and management stuff will be handled later… and I don’t think it will be earlier than mid 2010.

As I said:

No more words, next year we will be switching, Avast is for home users, not for corporate users…

Best Regards!

Damn shame that it will take so long. I don’t think my customers will be getting Exchange 2010 anytime soon, but I’d like to see Avast working with it before I try to deploy.

Alwil needs some more employees I think. Email support has been reported slow for a long time (it has been for me the few times that I’ve used it) and development is taking forever.

Oh well, 4.8 is still working well (knock on wood) for the 7 client offices that I have installed on now, I just hope they don’t want to upgrade too soon…

Me ???

I’ve offered myself to Vlk but I never get an answer from him

Yeah, you’d be great Tech, but I still think Alwil is dying for more than 1 or 2 people. More like 25-50+. A whole new shift of workers that peruse the forums, answer emails, and maybe even do telephone support.

They’re still running it like a small company, even though their customer base is equal to more of a Symantec or Norton type of company.

Something’s gotta give.

i agree with you tech and scythe…

it would be nice if parts of the forum would have their own moderator(s) c.q. technicians to help solving problems, i do believe that doing that would
also cut down actual needs to open a support ticket in many cases.

Also a PR person would be a nice addition to keep the us, the plebs, informed about new versions, beta testings, stuff like that… the paying customers (business or private) at least deserve that…

i do however understand that with avast free, there is a limited income and that there is not enough money to hire 50 new people… but 10 would be nice already… i actually had another topic tipping these kinda ideas… (let me find it)

Hi All,

Just for sure that avast will keep maintenance their ADNM + NetClient update. ;D

And if possible could add HIPS feature, i don’t know whether avast has implemented this feature and used different name with this feature?

And then for NAC feature, is there any roadmap to have cooperation with other brand beside cisco?

Sorry to report that we have serious problem of viruses and spyware, Avast NetClient don’t take powerful action or don’t detect it.
Especially with the virus that propagate with USB Key.

We have Avast ADNM installed at 15 customer, I hope not to have to switch to Avira Network Bundle…

a little off topic johjoh,

Try the viruses and worms section if you have a problem with removing a certain virus.

Guys

Alwil do have a PR guy and he is working on more press release things at the moment with the launch of v5. With regards to support I do agree and I have voiced my oppinion to vlk also. there simply isn’t enough support people or skilled ones for 100 Million users.

With regards to version 5 of ADNM I submitted the requirements from us and our customers for the next ADNM version and I know they do have a developer tasked with creating the new console management system.

So guys things are moving, its better to take time and get each product right one by one like Alwil do, rather than to employ an army of developers to create new applications which will end up like a Mcafee or AVG product! Not very well developed and full of bugs.

AVOSEC

thanks for this information…

i hope that PR guy will bring out this information soon (officially) and give some estimates…

im waiting eagerly for the new version because of better integration with the new MS software like

  • Server 2k8 R2 (current version runs fine on it, but its not build for this OS)
  • Exchange 2010 (no support since 2007 is the latest plugin, didnt try either yet)
  • Sharepoint Foundation (right now still in beta)
  • Windows 7 (again current version runs fine, but its identified as Vista which at first was unidentified)

so hopefully there will be an official announcement soon with any kind of information
thnx so far tho for this unofficial info
