We just installed 85 Avast Pro 4.8 clients manually as the server on which ADNM is installed on was not up at the time of installation. We installed 4.8 Pro as in avast site when asked to download it showed: Supported products for management - avast! Professional 4.8. But now when ADNM is up they are showing in the Dynamic list as Grey with no other information except IP address. Is there a way to make the Pro version connect to ADNM like the net client ? 85 clients is a lot of reinstalls
Pro is not managed.
I believe you installed the wrong client…
you can do a remote deploy OVER the pro client from within ADNM…
they need to have certain ports opened if your running a firewall on clients and u need to have file and printer sharing turned on…
if all conditions are met then its just a couple minutes work to deploy 85 clients
If your clients are members of Windows domain, you can use Group policy for deployment Avast “Managed clients”. Very simple… Try generate msi package in installation tasks.
Or use installation tasks for direct deployment. It is not necessary uninstall your current clients.
After deployment, you need change your license.dat file because version for ADNM is not the same as version Pro. But this change is free of charge, as I know. Connect your reseller or Avast customer service
Tks for your replies will try to deploy in stages. Did test it out with the net client and worked fine
I think the information below from AVAST site was the misunderstanding, somewhat misleading.
Standard Suite
Before you buy the avast! Standard Suite please download and install the programs listed below. Please feel free to take advantage of our try before you buy offer. The product can be used for 60 days free of charge without purchasing a license. We also offer a 60-day money back guarantee.
* avast! Professional Edition 4.8
* avast! Server Edition
* avast! Distributed Network Manager (ADNM)
avast! Distributed Network Manager (ADNM) is free of charge. That means that any owner of avast! antivirus licenses (at least 2 licenses of avast! Professional 4.8 or 1 Server Edition 4.8 - except avast! for Linux) is eligible to use ADNM.
Yes, I think they were saying you could try Pro 4.8 (standalone) to try the scanning capabilities before buying licenses and deploying the managed clients from ADNM.
