I will like to know if there’s any special setup instructions for installing the ADNM in Windows Server 2003 64bit Std. Whenever i try to install it says that i need the 32 bit O/S to be able to install. Any help here will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. ???
While the requirements (http://www.avast.com/eng/system-requirements-adnm.html) don’t say specifically that 64-bit is not supported, I suspect that since you’re getting that error message, it ain’t.
Maybe the Alwil webmaster could be more specific on the “any version” as [I’ll assume] it’s talking about Standard, Enterprise, etc.
Even then, the requirements aren’t correct as they mention “any version” for Server 2008 but I don’t think ADNM [or SQL] will install on a Core server.
Win 2003 server x32/x64 is fully supported.
In any case, did you read whole “error” message ?
Whole message looks like:
Microsoft Database MSDE requires a 32-bit version of NT4,2000,XP or 2003 Server. The operating system you are currently using is not supported.
To deploy ADNM on this machine we recommend installing SQL 2005. For smaller deployments, you can also use SQL 2005 Express which is available free of charge and functionally equivalent to MSDE.
More information about MSDE compatibility can be found directly on: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/815437
Yes that’s the message. Since I don’t have any experience working with SQL Express 2005, do you know where I can find some instructions on how to install and configure SQL X2005 so ADNM will work? Thanks in advance. ![]()
I’ve recently installed MS SQL2005 64-bit on a Windows 2008 64-bit Server. Here’s the url for the webpage: http://www.microsoft.com/express/2005/sql/register/default.aspx. (I chose not to register) and I selected this package: “* For the 64-bit install of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, click here” which is located at very bottom of the webpage of the installation instructions.
The only comment I have is that I was not able to name an instance and had to use the default “SQLExpress” as the named instance. So far the only problem I’m having with ADNM is that the Deployment Task items, NetClient and NetServer have not appeared in the Installation Package pull-down menu (I’m not sure if this is related to SQL or not) and had to create a support ticket with Avast but have not heard anything from them about a fix or what the problem may be.
