ADNM Deployment Issue Server 2008

Hi All, hope someone can shed light on this.

I have installed the ADNM on a Clean server 2008 machine, it installs fine, database caused an issue or two but after fiddling about I cured that, I logged into the ADNM added the servers and clients from Active Directory, so far so good, right until you try to push the software to the clients, it shows as just waiting in the client side tasks, does not matter how long you wait it just shows waiting.

I have tried to create just the MSI package but after it shows the package has been created I browse for it and its no where to be seen.

Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me loopy after two days.

Regards John

hi there

in the ADNM you have a menu called VIEW there you can find all sorts of log files, check in those log files if there are errors.
(since u solved your database problems i assume that we dont need to hold you hand while looking there ? :))

when you create an MSI package you need to select a directory on the ADNM server where you want it to be created AND you need to have write access in that directory
if you dont have one of those then the TASK will run succesfully (a bug i hope will be solved in the next adnm update?) but the package wont be created

There seems to be nothing in the logs - @ database comment, the msi package creation is using the default settings and has FULL write access.

Still driving me crazy… Completely at a loss…!

What is default path for creating MSI package?

One or two years ago, I solved problem with generation MSI package into UNC path directory. In case of network destination directory, not only you need write access in that directory. ADNM use SYSTEM account, so you have to grant for computer account (your AMS) write access too. Without write access, msi package will not be created and failure will not be logged (or failure was not logged in my case
Check security settings on destination directory, or better write more precise info about your settins (post image of installation task settings here)
But I prefer Avast deployment via installation tasks, not via msi packages…

the mirror created correctly?? ( i installed adnm in D:\AvastADNM, so check if D:\AvastADNM\mirror\mirror is filled with files)

if it did fill correctly did u create the client packages? ( i suppose tho that when u didnt u cant install anything to a client either), which inherently means u have a (broken) mirror filled with files)

if the mirror failed then the creation of the MSI wont work propperly either

Hi wpn,

The client/server packages create fine, I just cant seem to push them through the network nor can I create the MSI packages still, I have checked write access to the folder and all seems to be well.

I take it that the current ADNM package works with Server 2008?
