I have just downloaded and installed the ADNM and have successfully installed a test managed client and server. I was wondering about Vista, which I see avast supports, but the Vista info page states minimum version 4.7.892 (current version is 4.7.942). However my ADNM is only up to 4.7.599 on engine. VPS shows current, but it seems engine is not. I’m not totally sure I know how to determine the update schedule of my mirror server - could that be it?
The current version of avast managed client (4.7.652, released just today) is fully comptabile with Windows Vista (and Longhorn Server in case of avast NetServer Edition).
The page you’re refering to refers to avast Home/Pro, the managed version uses a different numbering (sorry for the confusion).
Thanks

I’m generating an MSI installer from the ADNM and it doesn’t seem to work on my Vista machines, of which I have two. For now they’re running a trial version of Pro, but I’d like to get them on the same page as all the other XP machines. Is there a known issue with the MSI generation process making files that don’t work on Vista clients?
While reading topics in the forums, I came across one that said the latest downloadable version of “avast! antivirus (managed version)” might work. I’ll try to give that a go while waiting to hear from you guys here.

I’ll have this tested ASAP.
Thanks for the heads up.

We have tested it in our lab and it seems that the MSI package really doesn’t work in Vista! Thanks for pointing this out - we’ll make sure to fix this for the next program update.
In the meantime, you can use an alternative method for deployment (e.g. running the setup_av_net.exe setup package manually – make sure to specify the /client command line switch).
Thanks

/client switch??? What’s that? I just installed it by executing the install package. Did I do it incorrectly? Are there other switches?
Check the last paragraph on this page: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-adnm.html#3
Thanks for the quick reply!!
Has ADNM been updated to create a vista compatible MSI yet? I just tried creating one and it does not install correctly on Vista. The MSI can be executed, and it appears to install something, but upon a reboot there is NO avast running. Any idea why? In the meantime, I’ll do the above workaround.
He said they’d have it fixed for the next release. There is a newer release out now. Check the sys reqs. and/or try it out. I’d imagine they fixed it though.
