ADNM showing "Workgroup" workgroup (domain) as "MSHOME"

Within the dynamic computer groups area of ADNM, I have users laptops who are showing up twice in the listings…once under the “workgroup” workgroup (domain), which is what their machine is set as, and then also under the “MSHOME” workgroup (domain), which none of our laptops belong to (both listings show the same IP address as well). I’ve noticed this only on remote laptop users, but I have about ten different users this is happening to. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problems and knew of a fix.

Are you using a discovery task to populate the Catalog?
Are both entries “green”? Or just one of the entries in the pair?

Yes, we are using a discovery task. Any computer with the agent installed should appear.
And only one instance will appear green, or both black, but never both instances appearing green.

And the green ones show with the WORKGROUP domain, is that correct?

Negative, the green ones show MSHOME

Interesting… Are these machines running XP Home?
Also – do the machines connect via LAN or wireless?

And one more thing: is ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) enabled on these machines?
Also, if you open TCP/IP protocol properties, click Advanced and then click the DNS tab - what does the “DNS suffix for this connection” box show?

All machines are running XP Pro.
All machines that are in question are remote users.
ICS is disabled on all machines.
DNS suffix box is blank on all.
