ADNM with WID on Windows Server 2008

Hi,

I’ve got a server which is running Windows Server 2008 (x64). On this I have Windows Server Update Services (WSUS 3.0) and Sharepoint Server using the Windows Internal Database (WID). I’d like to try out ADNM but I don’t want to be installing SQL server on this machine and I was wondering if a new version was coming out that would allow the use of WID where it used to use MSDE? (or is it possible to do this using the current version?)

I’m sure this question will pop up more once SBS 2008 comes out…

Thanks.

Hi,

I have problems too with ADNM under Windows Server 2008. Installed SQL Express 2005 with SP2 but ADNM install procedure says “Couldn’t locate SQL server XXX”.

What’s wrong? What can I do?

I hope someone will help me or say a new version is coming supporting WID…

Regards,
Gerard.

Castou:

Try installing as an administrator, even if you are logged in as administrator. (hold down Ctrl + right click on installer). That worked for me.

Yep, SBS 2008 here…

So, you’re saying that I can install MSDE on small business 2008, and ADNM will install, correct?

I was getting kind of worried earlier today when I tried installing it and it said that it didn’t support x64, which is all that sbs2008 comes as!

just fyi, it didn’t work for me.

I tried to install SQL Express 2008, and used “servername/sqlinstancename” as the server, then the user and pass that I setup and it said that it couldn’t find it. I’m going to try SQL express 2005 soon, but I fear that I may run into problems because 2005 is already setup for WSUS and Sharepoint on SBS 2008 boxes.

Oh well, I’ll give a few more things a whirl and post back when I find out something.

Hello,

Did you have any luck with this?

Many thanks,
Stephen

Yes, I made a thread here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=41775.0

We all eventually got it running. The tips made by other posters help tremendously (read the whole topic).
