Tech, it is free for scanning but no more for fixing the problems. I found the same cookie on my old version and fixed it with my old version. Sorrow and pain for us users…

The latest Personal is 2.7.1.840, the 2.72 is only Pro (yet).

Have you noticed that the last update of this software (v.2.72/April 25th) is no more “free” so to speak. You have to buy a license to fix your problems and use it:it only scans(no use). Just keep good old v.2.71 as long as you can!!! 8)

I would like to get the free Version 2.71.

Would you know of a link? Or would you be able to upload it to a share site?

The best I can offer for AdvancedWindowsCareSetup.exe is version 2.55

With V.2.71, the pop-up screen your forced to endure whenever you open the program suggested two links to update the program to V. 2.72. The upper link is for the free version, the lower link is for the Pro version. I mistakenly confused like many others tired of this annoyance. Needless to say the free v. 2.72 ADVANCED WINDOWS CARE PERSONAL is of course a better deal than the old one to my eyes. Sorry for the mess!!! ;D

Is it still free? Does it still do the same job as it use to in earlier version?

More generally, I have been told to be cautious of registry cleaners as they may delete essential files by mistake and wreck you computer. Is this safe to use for a novice? I currently use only CCleaner and have not had any problems with it. But if there is something that is better and safe, I would love to know about it.

Your experience and advise will be appreciated.

I’m using AWC Personal for on-demand scan&repair. Yesterday I downloaded and installed version 2.7.2 - it works as it should.

I do not have problems with its registry cleaner. You can ignore any key you don’t want to correct. Also, it has a backup/restore facility.
