OK so my advast 4.8 program will expire in 4 days so I go ahead and install the Advast version 5.0.377 and well now I can’t seem to get ANY web sites up come up on my computer. As soon as I turn my laptop and click on the Internet explorer I get a message that says " AN ACTIVE X CONTROL ON THIS PAGE MIGHT BE UNSAFE TO INTERACT WITH OTHER PARTS OF THE PAGE. DO YOUW ANT TO ALLOW THIS INTERACTION?. Now it doesnt matter if I click yes or no, I keep getting the same crappy results. When I go to www.facebook.com I can’t see my home page, I can’t access any of the applications on FB. I go to www.optonline.net and now instead of the normal log in page, I get some wacked out page that wont allow me to log in. I just paid $30 for this program and although advast has been good to me in the past, I am looking for a fix for this or I want my money back. Cant anyone help???
We are having multiple issues on multiple computers after upgrades from version 4.8 to 5.x. Very unfortunate, the web shield blocks some of my users web access until it’s shut off. We had AVAST remote in and spend 2-3 hours on it with no help. Other systems i was forced to uninstall version 5.x only to have IE7 broken in way that sites that were and are used for business purposes are no longer accessible. My customer is very frustrated and I’m not happy. We had fantastic success with the 4.8 Enterprise version that includes PRO v 4.8 but upgrading our XP workstations to 5.x has been a nightmare. AVAST support has dropped the ball and not followed up with us. We are a corporate customer paying AVAST over $1200 a year. We may have change products for 2010 if they don’t get this worked out.
Edit: Sorry, missed the date of the OP…!
Why are you hijacking a thread months old?
If WebShield blocks web access, then the avast! service (AvastSvc.exe) is blocked by a 3rd party firewall.
Welcome to the forums, digital_oakland
As Igor indicates, please check that a firewall (or firewalls) is not blocking access to the Internet.
