agree with davidr
is this thread about adverts or popups???
are you objecting to a tiny tag at the bottom of an update notification?
can you turn update notifications off?
you get popups and adverts with comodo firewall also
(but it seems to play well with avast)

Detection test is different than real life tests detection is a dead horse as only AV engine is utilized where in these dynamic tests there are full AV products but in both tests there are only samples in 100’s and not in 1000 anyway I left avira long ago because it was fp infested and plus it was really falling behind in terms of detection of threats that come in real life…and again no test gives accurate clarity but is worthwhile of atleast something, please see here:

still doubting ;D

dear arnold
i read all your complains.
how can you expect any one help if you fail to send dump files.
help yourself first please.
thankyou

avast provide help to you free.
thankyou bob you help lots here

I am not complaining.
I am frustrated i cannot get the best free av out there to work properly when the 2 previous versions worked fine.

You have been asked number of times to co-operte and provide the dumps but you dont seem to do so and then claim you are getting frustrated. Please try and do what is said it is helpful for you and for avast team too because they are always interested in BSOD’s

What’s the point in not trying to help yourself and then coming to avast forums to bitch about avast!?

The same applies with on-demand test…only tested against 100’s and so on but there are millions ::slight_smile: and besides this organization has bigger sample set:
www.shadowserver.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/Stats/Malware

and so you are wrong…avira is way behind in terms of detection even against bigger sample set, anything else sir? ::slight_smile:

This thread has gone way past off topic. The most simple and obvious action a user should do is to limit the duration of the pop-up.
It ain’t that difficult. As far as adverts go, avast does “not” come pre-loaded when you purchase a computer. The only advertising
avast gets is either by word-of-mouth or via a small pop-up. With this in mind, doesn’t avast have a right to make a profit.
After all I’m quite sure the employees enjoy getting a paycheck. 8)

To limit duration of pop-ups see… 8)

What utter rubbish.
There are no pop ups or adverts with comodo firewall.

I think you do get pop ups if ‘Comodo message center’ is ticked. But I have it unticked so I don’t see any.
