I have two months left on Norton NIS 2012…(upgraded from 2011) and I have a problem that symantic can’t get straight…spam tool bar in outlook express disappearing…I know that Avast anti spam protects all mail…the only thing keeping me from buying is that pc mag and some others say avast misses some malware in tests…I know all reviews seem to indicate Norton has top scores but the anti spam thing bugs me a lot…any advice on buying avast really would be appreciated

if you have a spam problem, the best way to solve that is to get a Gmail account…very god spam filter 
Then you can’t have any AV, because they all miss things. ;D

I like it just fine, for about 2 years now
I can’t speak for any functions of the Mail shield, though, something you seem to be concerned with, as I have never had need to use it, all my mail is web mail.
i’m going with it the low resource usage is great for me
