Advice please

Eveing all, i hope iam posting in the right section.

Iam currently having a few problems with possibly some ad ware/Trojan horse or spyware. Ive got alot off infected files, which are in the virus chest (avast). Ive run ad ware, spybot s&d, zonealarm spyware scanner, all of which came up with no results-but have done previously. Ewido scanner showed about 30 results all have been quarantined. Iam still unsure if my PC is safe, or still has infected files or possibly virus’s.

The virus’s that are listed in ad vast are

win32:Swizzor-gen and
VBS:Malware

if this helps.

Could someone, please advise me off what i should do?

Any help on this would be really appreciated.

Happy Easter

I assume that your OS is XP, if so you can schedule a boot-time scan from within avast. Having done that you could run ewido from safe mode (reboot and keep tapping the F8 key). This should be able to detect and remove anything that would otherwise be in use.

However, you have run several scans with different programs so hopefully you should be in the clear. Virus names on there own aren’t really that helpful, but in conjunction with the infected file name and location it is more helpful.

The fact that adaware, etc. had previously detected things but now don’t, isn’t necessarily a bad thing as hopefully when things were detected previously they will have been dealt with ?

There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, they can’t do any harm there. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a week or two. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.

Is there anything that makes you think that you aren’t clear ?
