After 2 weeks that Avast5 worked good today it stopped

Error: File System Shield provider not found
I have only one process running avastUI
can someone advise?

forgot to write: win7 on i5 core, no previous AV or Firewall

You could try to repair avast from the Control Panel (Start → Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs → Avast)

yes i already tried that option (saw it on different thread),

another important thing is that in the UI, at about avast dialog, there is no version number etc,
however the registration is valid until 2011…

Ok, you could try to uninstall, and then install the software again.

yes i will try it now.

before starting the process (uninstall and new installation)
there are two things i have done:

  1. i installed new flash plugin to FF browser, and it installed McAfee as well, which i uninstalled using their uninstall feature - 5-6 days ago (last night avast worked well)
  2. there is windows update from last night ??? maybe?

i reinstalled and everything is working good.
