Did you do a reboot after the update? I think Avast! needs one for these to function properly. Also your update is to Pro?
Yes, after the install shut system down and turned system back on for fresh boot-up (01/29/10).
Turned system back on this morning and still the same.
avast! Pro – 01/23/10 updated from 4.8 Pro to 5.0.377.0 Pro without any problems/issues. Had the program pop-up update notification 01/29/10 which updated to 5.0.396.
Also with avast! Pro 5.0.377.0, the desktop icons that I had right-clicked and used the context menu to always start in sandbox, avast! added a small padlock to the desktop icon.
After the 5.0.396 update the icons no longer show the padlock, though when I start a app it has the red window border.
Can only add/remove apps to/from Sandbox via the avast! Process Virtualization settings.
Delete please
Any help – suggestions other than uninstall and re-install?
Have you tried a “Repair” from the Add/Remove menu, followed by a reboot?
Jon_T: run regedit.exe, could you please verify that following keys+values are correct:
if 1+2+3 is ok, then run cmd.exe under Administrator, go to avast5 folder and execute: “regsvr32 snxPlugins.dll”, this will re-register sandbox context menu, reboot.
Please let me know what you’ll find out…
PK,
No – had the following:
Name: “Default”
Type: "REG_SZ
Data: (value not set)
No “{F4B3B0AA-13D1-4a36-BDA2-2055B0F3D5DE}” in the CLSID folder.
Yes
I can confirm Jon_T’s findings. Upgrade from 5.0.377 to 5.0.396 via Maintenance → Update. WinXP3 clean 5.0.377 install. No context menus at all after reboot. All 3 reg keys empty/non existent. Startup is smoother with 5.0.396.
Jon_T, steen: could you please send me “c:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5\log\Setup.log” to kurtin@avast.com? Thanks.
pk,
Just sent email with the requested “Setup.log” file attached.
The email subject line contains the title of this topic.
Thanks,
