After Avast 7.0.1474 update, Outlook 2010 is throwing Send/Receive Errors

After doing the Avast 7.0.1474 update (and some 28 Microsoft Updates were also done before re-booting), Outlook 2010 started throwing Send/Receive Errors. I was able to isolate the errors as being due to the presence of the Avast Add-in in Outlook 2010 (when I disabled it, the Send/Receive errors stopped).

The error I WAS getting is:

error code 0x800CCC80 in Outlook ‘None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server’

However, now my Avast email protection is presently disabled (or, at least the Add-in is disabled … though Avast still shows the Mail Sheild is ‘Running’). How can I resolve this situation so I can enable the Avast Add-in in Outlook without generating Send/Receive errors? (This was submitted to Avast Support just now but am posting here in case others have the same issue - I will post back with any response from Support).

Thanks for your reply, Asyn. Sorry for my late response but I’ve been dealing with the failure of my primary hard drive which occurred shortly after I started this topic. I’ve followed the advice from the link you suggested. Hopefully, this has resolved my issue - so far so good. (BTW, I did receive an initial response from Avast support but they sent me a link to an article that had nothing to do with my issue and then never responded to my follow-up email, so I’m glad to have had your response here).

Jeff

You’re welcome.
