After installing Avast, I can not longer shut my computer down. I have even tried closing Avast before trying to turn my computer off, but that doesn’t even work. This has only happened since installing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. K.

What is the operating system you are running?
Thank you. I am running Windows XP Pro. Something went amiss with the ‘Turn Off’ button. When I click on it, all it does is restart my computer. So I thought I would outfox it, and clicked on ‘Restart’, but the same thing happened.

Does anything other change or is weird or just this annoyance?
What is set into the Energy settings of Control Panel?
Hi.
Yes, I had AVG, but I took it off as it took hours to do a scan with it. I also have Spy Sweeper. I have not noticed any other changes except this one. Sorry, I am not really great with computers and am not sure what ‘Energy settings’’ is on the Control Panel. Thanks.

Go to Control Panel then Power Options then Advanced and make sure that Power buttons is set to Shut down.
I hardly ever use the Power button I just go to start then Turn Off Computer then Turn Off.
It is already set at ‘shut down’ Kate
If you uninstall SpySweeper for a while, will it shutdown correctly?
