After purchasing Avast 5 on Dec 31 (for a year), I’m starting to get random renewal notices & notices that my subscription is ended. Has anybody experienced this? This is worse than a virus!
What version of avast did you purchase and where was it purchased ?
Having purchased avast, you should have received an email with a link to download your license file (license.avastlic) or it should have been attached. Did you receive that email ?
Next you actually have to insert that license, did you do that ?
If you didn’t you would now be close to the end of the 30 day trial period.
Version 5 - I did all of that (got the license & applied it) & the program is working as it should. It’s just that every now & then I get a screen flashed up that tells me my license lapsed & I need to renew it. I’ll take a screenshot when it next appears!
OK, sounds like a hiccup, what do you do to resolve it ?
Have you updated to avast 5.1.889 ?
If so I don’t know if that might be the problem if you have to re-enter it.
I just close the pop-up screen
Have you updated to avast 5.1.889 ? If so I don't know if that might be the problem if you have to re-enter it.I have updated & my subscription area says "valid until 31/12/2011" I also started to get some notices that Avast was unable to update!
OK, that’s better than having to reboot, but I don’t know if in doing so that might also be causing the unable to update notices. As if avast is out of date (even if this is an incorrect message) it could be that that actually stops you getting an update.
Do these unable to update notices appear after getting the renewal notices ?
Do these mention the package is broken ?
If so - Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You may need to reboot after the repair.
OK, I’ll try that later tonight, thanks for the help!
No problem, glad I could help.
