After System Recovery License Key Invalid

I hope that this is the right place to post this question - I’m new to this forum.

I have just completed a system recovery on an HP Media Center PC. Avast (Pro - purchased in February07 and up to date) is still showing up but when it asks for my license key and I enter it, I get “Invalid License Key” and can’t exit that until I agree that my license key is ‘invalid’, which is not the case.

Hoping someone can tell me what I’ve done wrong and how to fix the problem.

thanks

What is the full text of the error message (is there a more information, etc.) ?

Where did you purchase your license from, On-line at avast via, Share*it or a Reseller or another location ?
The reason I ask this is there are a number of fraudulent sites selling avast and other products.

Q: “Invalid license number”. Why? http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-invalid-license-number.html Or Insert Registration Key - Video

Thanks for the reply.

The message is only 'Invalid License Number!"

I purchased from Share-it via the link on the Avastl website. I purchased the download version.

Can you please post your license key - that is, the part before the dash.

Thanks
Vlk

klh1984, you could copy “400.vps” (C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA) from old installation of avast!, then install avast! again at the same directory, then puste “400.vps” in the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA, reboot. In thise case avast! would work with old key and new virusbase.
P.S.: Vlk, I’m sorry. May be it’s not good\legal advise - don’t bun me

When using the copy paste method, ensure that you do not copy an extra blank space.

Sooner or later you’ll mess your installation… maybe on next program update…
