Hi there!
After using avast for a long time I switched to Kaspersky and then to NOD32. Due to my licence of NOD32 is running out, I thought I can try out avast! again. Perhaps it has been developed further since I used it the last time
Here are some questions (regarding the Home-Version of avast!)
- Does avast! detect “Hidden applications” like rootkits?
- Does avast! scan NTFS alternate data-streams?
- Does avast! have some sort of heuristics now (I know there is a heuristics module in the eMail-scanner)?
- The newes av-comparatives-review gave avast! “advanced” but a very bad mark in the flexibility of the scanning-engine (detection of polymorphic viruses). It’s known that in every av-comparatives-test this important point was the culprit in avast! Do the programmers know of this “behaviour” with polymorphic viruses?
- Does avast! have a self-defense-system like NOD32 which denies the deleting of important avast! processes from task-manager etc?
Greetings and grats to the best (and most complete) free antivirus-programm
Timo
