hello !
In a French mag, the “Ordinateur individuel”, n°172, May issue, it is said that Avast ! Home Edition 4.5.549, does not detect a common virus, Agobot. Do you agree ?
Sulpice
There are hundreds of Agobot variants.
Latest avast Home edition, 4.6.652 - and yes avast detects agobot but as said there are numerious varients. So avast may employ some form of generic detection.
Yes, many many variants, and I think some of them are named Gaobot. The VPS history indicates that Avast detects a large number of these variants. I suppose it’s always possible that there are some variants that it doesn’t detect but I don’t know how likely that is.
PC MAGAZINE (Italian version) says: actually is Avast! the BEST AV concerning detection power.
The ones that are detected as Gaobot in the avast Virus Database number 1511, so there are a large number of varients.
Like any AV it/they may have issues with first day varients depending on the detection method, generic or specific varient/version.
