ahjsctns.dll component change

first off, why would a program that is not Avast want to change the ahjsctns.dll component? and secondly, should I allow a program to update that Dll?

I’ve have a few programs trying to change the ahjsctns, these programs are in one way-shape-or-form connected to financhal media…is it wise to let them update, or if not, how would I block the update without also blocking the programs from accessing the internet?..Thanks

How exactly did you find out that some program is trying to change the mentioned file?

Hello igor,

Avast component mod

You mean the Behavior Blocker?
Well, the announced event is actually “Opening for writing” - but it doesn’t mean the program is really going to change (= write) the file. Today, many programs request both “read” and “write” access when opening a file - even though they actually don’t need the write access (they intend just to read the file). There’s nothing we can do about it… except for calling it a bad programming.
Even when you select an exectable file in Explorer and display its properties from the context menu, the file is opened for writing (just to read the version info)…

True, but that brings up another question: If a program triggers the component control mod how do you tell if it is starting a wright sentance command compared to a read string?

You can’t, I’m afraid. Because of that, the Behavior Blocker is not very useful in the current form… :-\

ok then…but if a program would want to change this Dll why would it and could the write change be malicious?

the red flag is the progams accessing the Dll are not associated in any way, they only access the ahjsctns dll and they all are finachally linked
