AIM Worm

I received an instant message with an attached file. The message was something like “Look at this, I just made it!”. It was a worm of some kind. Avast! has been cleaning up the byproducts of the worm, most recently WIN32:trojano-2539, but I can’t get rid of the root of the problem. I am using windows XP professional 2002. The main problem with the worm is that every time I use the internet, at some point the worm causes Internet Explorer to freeze. I tried Netscape, but the same thing would happen. Help!!!

Did you boot in Safe Mode (F8 while booting) and run avast?
If it does not help, can’t you schedule to run avast at boot time?

Did you run antispyware applications?
Did you clean your Internet temporary files?
