I have a new Dell laptop with Intel 6230 networking which features ‘My Wifi’ technology so that I can connect my smartphone to the internet by creating a ‘personal hotspot’.
However, I find that I can only get internet access on my phone if I disable Avast. I have tried removing the Avast NDIS driver from the two virtual networking adapters but this didn’t make any difference.
I cannot see anywhere else to configure the hotspot network - I am surprised it did not pop up as a new network and allow me to set it as home/work/public etc.
How do I get this to work?
thanks
In fact, removing the driver will do much more harm than good.
I use a personal hotspot in my Dell and it works perfectly with other computers/phones.

Well it is good to know that you have got the Intel My Wifi to work with AIS 6, but it isn’t working for me and I am pretty sure that Avast is blocking it. If I ‘Disable Shields’ via the Context Menu on the Avast tray icon, I immediately get internet access via the personal hotspot. When the shields are re-enabled, internet access is lost again.
I only unchecked the Avast Firewall NDIS driver temporarily to see if it enabled internet access. It didn’t help so I re-enabled it.
