AIS BSOD Win 7 (x64)

Today i installed AIS 7.0.1473 on my desktop HP running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit the install went without a hiccup.

Upon reboot i get a BSOD memory dump. It loops from Win loading icon to BSOD over and over, i can get into BIOS with Escape, i can F8 to safe mode. I have to uninstall AIS from safe mode THEN it will boot just fine.

On install i am asked if i want to install full version or compatible version so i did full first this gave me the BSOD, after uninstalling in safe i booted normally and installed compatible mode. Compatible mode ONLY installed Script shield no scanner no firewall nothing else. Well that’s just not going to cut it so i went into BIOS and changed IDE to ACHI that still failed and default was IDE.

I just installed this SAME one on my little sisters laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit and everything is perfect all installs are proper all shields are up and on, all databases are up to date its perfect on the 32 bit but it reaks havoc on my 64 bit!

Does anyone have any ideas if i am the one mucking this up?

what AV did you use before installing avast?
did you uninstall it before installing avast?

did you run the vendors removal tool to clear any leftover files that may conflict?

Well i didn’t use any tools to uninstall it just the stock uninstall app Microsoft Security Essentials but that’s it i uninstalled then installed AIS. However i just found that when i downloaded the AV version and not AIS i installed it went flawlessly all shields active engines updated. No BSODs whatsoever but i want AIS not just AV.

Note: 1473 is an old version, the latest one is 1474…!!
