Hi all, for the last week I have been having issues with internet not working properly, downloads failing etc. Finally figured that the malware I had was akamaihd, at least I am hoping this is the only one. Avast! didn’t find it, nor did Iorbit. I also tried tdsskiller. Finally (should have been first) I followed the instructions on the Avast! forum and used Malwarebytes, and this appears to have solved the issue. I now have a paid subscription to Malwarebytes! The malware bytes can log is from Safe Mode.
The instructions mentioned placing the log files on here as there may be other issues.
Malwarebytes is not designed for safe mode scan (yes it will run, but all drivers are not loaded) this should only be used if there is a problem with normal scan....
Malware experts are notified, since it is past midnight in europe now you may not see a reply before tomorrow
Posted OTL does not show malware (or bad) activities.
I want you to re-run MBAM2 one more time but this time we’re use integrated ARK (antirootkit) scan type only:
[*]On the Scan tab, select Custom Scan.[*]Click the Scan Now >> button.[*]Under ‘Custom Scanning Options’ uncheck all boxes.[*]Select only ‘Scan for rootkits’.[*]Do not select any drive letter.[*]Click ‘Start Scan’. If an update is available, click the Update Now button.[*]When the scan is complete, if there have been detections, click Apply Actions. [*]Wait for the prompt to restart the computer to appear, then click on Yes.
Note:
If there were no detections, you can click on the ‘View detailed log’ link after the scan completes.
This looks good. I think there is no need for further checks …
Re-run OTL and click on CleanUp! button.
You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the cleanup process, choose Yes.
After the reboot all the tools we used should be gone. Note: Some more recently created tools may not yet be removed by OTL. Feel free to manually delete any tools it leaves behind.
