How come on some websites such as Trend Micro’s encyclopedia it lists the virus name and aliases other programs use yet Avast is never listed only ever Avira and the other paid versions
I have no idea, but I guess they only have some of the more common aliases or they don’t want to give the names of to many competitors.
This is probably the best source for aliases, but there is obviously a lag between a new piece of malware being detected and it being listed.
You also have to register (no charge) to use it.
