Hi,
I have a 10 user account, all PC’s are now running very slowly due to the Avast update, some programmes no longer run, some are messaging not enough recourses/“can’t keep up” a 2 month old Dell i7, 16GB ram, SSD etc now takes twice as long from boot up till ready for use and now struggles…we might as well be running 486’s because of this new update. This is happening on standalone PC’s, networked PC’s and now my home PC. The/my i7 worked perfectly pre update, after reboot immediate and obvious slow down, programmes running 15mins earlier / pre update no longer run.
Can I role back this update?
If not is there a fix due?
[*]Boot to Safe Mode.
[*] Restart the computer.
[*] As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
[*] Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode with Networking menu item
[*] Press Enter.
[*]Run aswClear
[*]In the Select Product to Uninstall dropdown choose the version of Avast that is on your system.
ok, many thanks for the response, I’ll try the above in the morning.
I should have said it’s Avast Pro, 10 user license, running on 2 XP’s the rest win 7.
I’ve had a play with the settings, the most obvious problem is caused by the Script shield, when turned off most issues go, however I’m not happy turning off when launching IE (which now takes anywhere between 55-70 seconds to start up).
I’ve followed the instructions to the letter, on our 2 primary PC’s (mine) it makes no difference, 1 x win 7 is slightly better, 1 worse, XP look ok. Not wasted my time on the others. We’ve not had any problems with Avast in the last 8/9 years, it’s a shame were having them now.
Frankly I have no issues with v7 and would like to downgrade the PC’s with problems, so is it possible for you to supply a link for me please.
Thank you for your reply.
The link is Avast “free”, is that the same as my product Avast pro?
PS its just taken me 9 mins just to launch IE get to this forum, follow your link and then start this reply… frustrating is an under statement.
This is the official Avast forum?
Is it unreasonable for paying customers to expect Avast to provide from it’s own source a fall back to new a upgrade/new version for those that experience problems?
I’ve paid for 10 users version of Avast pro, it’s not unreasonable for me to expect it to work adequately, Avast worked perfectly before upgrade, the PC’s haven’t changed Avast’s compatibility has, I’m willing to revert back to older version can Avast supply it please?
Thank you essexboy, I’ll wait for a response.
Thanks Bob, from memory I downloaded Avast onto a USB when setting up new PC’s a couple of months ago, hopefully I can find it and it’s still on there, although chances are it’s been deleted by now. I don’t mean to be grumpy, I’m just frustrated at investing so much money in new PC’s to have them running so poorly, it’s cost more in disruption and lost time than the original license cost, we’ve used Avast for a long time, never had any virus, performance or security issues however I can’t afford this situation, I’ll try to resolve the problems if I can’t I’ll simply uninstall and purchase elsewhere. (staff will inevitably start to disable services otherwise, I’ve been close myself)
I’ve found & installed my copy of Avast v7.0.1474 used previously, everything is back to normal and working as it should. I’ll downgrade PC’s at work that are experiencing problems.
I’ll give it a few months then upgrade and see what happens. Hopefully all will be fixed when we renew in October.
Avast was also blocking Adobe Creative cloud from connecting, amongst others. Good luck with v8.
