Hi,
ADNM detects the CD-Drive of a Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition as a local harddisk and scans it with the on-demand scanner if execute this task.
Is there a way to specifiy that the local CD/DVD-Drives are not scanned?

That’s strange… can you tell us more about the drives on that machine, and also about the task?
I’ve investigated it a little bit more…
I’ve started the default on-demand scanning Task on this machine. The ADNM shows the status “running” for this task for about 1h. The HD’s of this machine is quite empty (4GB used space).
Attached you find 3 screenshots that are showing the task (types, area) and the scanning.
Interesting is also that it scans with content recognition, but I specified extension recognition in the task…
Strange…

So, are you sure that it scans the CD/DVD drive of that machine, or you actually just find the runtime too long to spend on its hard disks only?
OK, it’s just a stupid mistake - the wrong text is displayed. Thanks for the report, I fixed the omission.
Yes, it could be that - it only says that it is in status “running” but at the target system it seems that the scan-process is already finished.
How can I track on the machine I am scanning that the scanner is running or is finished?

Claus
I’d guess the problem may be caused by the memory scan. I think there are currently some problems with real memory scan on 64bit OS :-\
Yeah - that’s it - I removed the Memory scan from the task, and now it finished the scan within ~3 Minutes.
Thanks so far, but this should be fixed very quick!!!

For now, I’d suggest to use (instead of the memory scan) a special area: when adding a new area to scan, choose Other and insert the following text: *STRT-MEM-SHORT
It will not even be displayed when you next open the page, but it will make avast! scan the modules loaded in memory, and also the common auto-start items. (If you’d want to avoid scanning the auto-start items, use *MEMORY-SHORT instead).
Yes, thats ok, but it is not very nice.
Thanks for your help!
