All my files deleted with avast antivirus, how can recover?

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

Depending on how serious this is, I would be looking at restoration from a recent system/file backup, but if you don’t do regular backups you may have lost some.

What Avast Program version are you using ?
What were you doing when this happened ?
How/why did Avast delete all your files (what files) ?

All of your files? You might have to be more specific. Otherwise, get to be good friends with Copilot. Here is a non-technical piece of its response.

  1. Check the antivirus quarantine: Many antivirus programs move suspicious files to quarantine rather than deleting them outright. You might be able to restore it from there.
  2. Use File History or Backup: If you had File History or another backup system enabled, you could recover the file from there.
  3. Try data recovery software: If the file was deleted recently and hasn’t been overwritten, recovery tools like Recuva or EaseUS might help.

With 15+/- years with Avast, I have never had your problem. Frequently saved Restore Points have saved my bacon many times.
