Since the update, avast! has decided that all my mail has become spam. Even after I added every single address to my contacts (something I have never had to do, btw), each time I get new email from the same sender, into the spam folder it goes. ALL my email, every day, any contact, new and old, goes to spam. I’ve checked the settings in avast! and it looks like my option is to dump every single contact into the whitelist folder. seriously??? that’s a fix?? there’s gotta be something else wrong/easier to fix/whatever. And I don’t know if this is connected, but since the update, I can’t send any BCC either. Any ideas, other than to disable the spam filter?
some update that was, I have the same problem, even an email from Avast went to the spam folder - seems like ‘Avast’ want us to pay for the upgrade edition; instead and simply because of the irritation this has caused, I’m going to one of the other freebies, this is ridiculous.
Avast Internet Security version 7.0.1.407
Microsoft Outlook 2010
All email is marked as spam and sent to the spam folder.
The only way to stop avast from marking the emails as spam is to turn Avast completely off.
Has anyone found anything else out?
I had the opposite problem where it said a number of emails had been marked as spam but none actually were. It seems to be working okay today though. Everything it’s marking should be marked but since I have my junk email settings putting everything that’s not in my allowed senders list into the junk folder, I really don’t need the spam filtering. I turn off the spam filters provided by my mail carriers as well.
This has just happened to me also = the vast majority of my emails are ending up in my spam/junk folder. Not happy and waiting for a solution…
This is what I did and it seems to have fixed this in Outlook 2010. Click the File tab and then the Options. In Outlok Options click the Add-Ins. At the bottom there is a Manage: “Com Add-ins” click the GO. Then all I did was uncheck the avast! Antispam and this fixed it for me.
Unfortunately turning off what’s supposed to block the spam might work to stop what appears to be broken.
It doesn’t fix the problem which is something that needs to be addressed.
We removed and re-installed Avast on the system that was affected.
Once installed Avast would not activate the mail shields at all. it says status “unknown”
For the record - the emails I get marked SPAM - are never SPAM - because I get NO SPAM. NONE.
I should turn SPAM checking off.
I’ve been trying various things to try and fix this and nothing works. Inside Outlook - adding to Safe Sender/Safe Domain, nope. Adding every piece of mail to Whitelist, nope. Every day, every piece of mail goes to spam. It doesn’t matter how many times it’s Whitelisted. This is NUTS.
This has I believe been resolved by the R2 beta build of avast 7.
- Incorrect marking emails as a SPAM
So if anyone is willing to try this beta build the information and links are in this topic, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=94790.0. This is however, a beta build but for the most part this has been stable, I haven’t experienced any problems with it.
