I wonder if he even knows what Linux is ?
He just likes the meaning of the word:
ubuntu - “I am because you are,” and which means that individuals need other people to be fulfilled. 
I was reading about it in the newspaper today and they had no clue either about ubuntu also being a version of Linux ;D
For me it’s my only link to Linux. Great little boot CD when Windows wouln’t go. ;D ;D

It is a pity that there apparently are obstacles and hurdles, why the larger public cannot make the change to open software as such. And the the right to tinker with it would be included. But as the opposite parties (content sellers of all sorts) would have their way this alternative soon be phased out, and the battleground will be inside computers. The outcome is unpredictable, but I have a hunch which way it is gonna go.

There have always been obstacles and, for each obstacle, a solution has always been found.

I am yet another who agrees with the idea of open-source movement but can do nothing with it because of the lack of knowledge on technology. Also, I cannot ignore economy around myself - it is impossible to live with only open-source software. I need to “compromise” somewhere.

Well I am not worrying, and I am a full forgiving chap with little hang-ups or embitterment, because as you so wisely say Bob, that is hazardous to one’s health. But I like to see facts as they are, not as they are presented to all of us.
But is not it so that everytime someone sends out a Word-document. he sends a signal to someone else?
That is why I have an Abi-Word processor installed, because in the old days computers came with some Office bundle free, now only the Media Player, IE and Outlook comes with newer computers.

Again, these kinds of tricks won’t work for me. Quite many software companies regard MS-based software is more important and I am using their products for my work. If it were only about Office documents…
