I still have Norton 2002. The only thing I use is WinDoctor. Anyone familar with WinDoctor and knows of any good alternatives to it please post them. Thank you.
hey culpeper and bob-he is right on the tuneup utilities 2006-i have the full version on my laptop(after using the trial version-which is the full version for 30 days)i liked it so might i purchased it…very nice program

I agree most heartedly with your advice. The only reason that I brought this up was that Windoctor 2002 is having a problem recognizing legitimate entries for .NET 2.0. Also, running the TuneUp Utilities 2006 found an additional 749 problems that Windoctor 2002 was not showing. No, that number is right. 749 problems. All of which were successfully fixed with the TuneUp 2006 program.
After I noticed that Windoctor 2002 didn’t like .NET 2.0, I found this:

With the .NET problem and all those additional problems found by TuneUp 2006 I am beginning to wonder if Windoctor 2002 has seen its better days.

Too basic for Windoctor type scans. You’re referring to a tool that is not a replacement for Windoctor nor TuneUp Utilities 2006.
My question is simple:
How do you expect an outdated 2002 program regardless of it’s name or manufacturer
to protect and or alter a 2006 operating system without that program running into
constant compatibility problems and constantly making repairs base on technology
never built into that program.

A current version Ashampoo WinOptimizer wasn’t finding all those problems as well. Also, you are incorrect in your assumptions. WinXp is a 2001 operating system. It’s old but try to convince me it is obsolete and I will go out and purchase a license to use Win Vista. As for Windoctor 2002. It didn’t have any compatibility problems until I upgraded to .NET 2.0. Also, Windoctor 2002 is actual version 6.0 and Windoctor version 9.0 is having the same problem. Don’t be so quick to jump the gun or go out and waste money on software just because what you have is old. However, I do appreciate the recommendation for TuneUp Utilities. It is an excellent Windows maintenance utility. I like very much.

It’s more than age, it’s what the program is required to do that also has to be considered.
I still utilize programs made for Win3.1 without problems but, they don’t make changes to my operating system.
