Always been free, why am I being hounded for money?

The free version of avast has always filled my needs completely. I’m not a corporation. Why am I now being hounded by reminders that my subscription will expire in 29 days??? It seems the minimum you’re (they’re?) willing to accept is 29.99.

For the moment, I’ll assume there’s something wrong somewhere that I don’t know how to correct.

Just renew your free registration. If not, avast will stop updating.

I can’t renew free registration. Under Maintenance, options are: Update, Subscription, Virus Chest, Support, and About avast!

Can I uninstall, using Revo, and re-install?

What Tech means is, click “Subscription” and you will get an option in there to renew your license for free for another year. Renewing your registration is renewing your license once again. This done once a year. Just re-register your email address you used before, if you use the off-line method, otherwise clicking Subscription should automatically renew it for you while online.

I think this might be another instance of the complaint which was discussed in this thread.
