ALWIL ENGINE HAS STOPPED WORKING

Been an avast user since I can remember and now i have made the dreaded Vista upgrade I am having a bit of a problem getting going.

When I download the setup file I get the following message:
ALWIL ENGINE HAS STOPPED WORKING

I have disable the user account controls but still no luck!

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Lee

Can you post a screenshot of the error message?

Sure can.

When exactly does the setup crash?
Is it immediately when you run it, or do you see a progress bar like copying files and then crash?

Try to run setup with commandline:
setupeng.exe /forceinstall

The screen show immediatly after clicking the setup file (and the same result from the force install command)

Edit: After checking out some other downloads I have found that this is true for all downloads on this PC, however, previous downloads from other PCs work fine.

If anyone has any experience with vista, maybe they could give me a hand with fixing this issue?

New Error when i attempt to run (see screenshot)

Try to delete Temporary Internet Files cache in IE, then download setup again.
When you display properties of setupeng.exe, does it show Digital signatures tab with ALWIL Software signature?
What’s the exact size of setupeng.exe file, in bytes?

Tried temporary files… no luck, the signature there is apparently no valid.
The size in bytes is:18,884,808 byte

The size is correct, can you try the same downloaded file on other computer?

Alternatively you can try internet installer downloaded here:
http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/av_pro_inet.exe
If you can run it, make sure that you are connected to internet during installation.

Its ok, ive fixed it, the signatures wouldent work with my account but wheni created another account it worked fine. Thanks for all your help anyway
