I am a user come from China .I have lots of friends use AVAST! HOME EDITION.We have a forum. We user the forum Collect Virus samples. Then send to you.We according to your request to send that samples. But we found that almost useless. After some weeks or month.Avast! still can’t found that virus.
How did you protect us ?
Let us protect you in the virus labyrinth.
Who says that?
You can’t handling it in time. You are Casual.
Have you tried send Virus samples to Avira? Kaspersky? They can reply in one day.Than improved Virus library at least in one week.
So i am so disappointed.
We hope you can Correction that.
lots of software we can choose.
But everybody will choose the better.
If you can’t found the virus samples we send to you .
you can come to our forum find it .
We hope the more people send virus samples to you Avast! antivirus software Will get better!
We’re always disappointed and want better protection and virus submission.
Do not give up on helping they to get avast better, specially on detection that it’s not the best point nowadays. ![]()
we always send virus samples to them .
but they are so slow.
It’s a pity. It’s a shame.
Complain is the only solution for us, users, to take their attention.
Let the people around us to complain.
But i steel use avast!.it is not i can’t find other antivirus software.
it is that i like avast!.
I like Avast very much, also. It has heaps of good points.
But this issue of the developers being slow, sometimes very slow, to respond to submissions is one that occurs too frequently, and has for quite a while.
Developers, is there anything that the users can do (that might be a bit more constructive than complaining) that might help speed this process?
Or, how much longer should we be patient for?
If the use of MSN transmission, direct transmission of the virus samples, I think that would be more convenient
Virus submission has been a serious problem for quite a while.
I don’t know why it’s taking so long to come up with a viable solution.
Some of Alwils competitors seem to have accomplished this task. ![]()
Vlk… what happens here? You’re developing version 5, you’re developing a firewall… but Bob is correct, you can’t definitively solve the submission process… What’s up?
Im bumping this back up because i think its an important issue but furthermore i hope to read a response from the avast team.
There have been a number of responses in other topics on this very subject and they are working on it.
The only problem I see is that they (Alwil) have been working on this problem for for years. ![]()
IMHO, this deserves to be given some priority. Thanks
I believe from reading between the lines of other posts that they are trying to incorporate something into version 5. They have taken on more staff in the labs as has been said and we are starting to see some of them visit the forums and submissions do seem to be improving though there is room for improvement.
The day when Avast will not see any more improvements to be done I will stop using Avast as there is always room for improvement ;D
P.S: I hope it won’t come

since this month we got this new polymorph virus module and in that area detection shows jump a lot …
there was alpha test of module for Avast! self protection so i assume we may see some ‘lite’ version appear prior v5
about virus detections … i guess it’s all about priorities nows … there is 1000 times more files to check then 3y ago
and seriously u can’t await Alwil to hire 100-100 times more staff ![]()
about virus detections ... i guess it's all about priorities nows ... there is 1000 times more files to check then 3y ago and seriously u can't await Alwil to hire 100-100 times more staff :)To keep us safe, I certainly do.... :) ;D :)
guys, i wrote it to other threads and Dwarden mentioned it also here - the count of virus samples grows and we are working on new submission system, which will make all related things faster… it’s nice to catch samples from users in 5 minutes, but that’s possible only without internal testing (the scan of cleanset takes a bit more than 5 minutes ;D) and we must test the detections, simply because we can’t release any serious false positive… btw: a new detection of Virut/Cheburgen will be included in next VPS (this is one of the most important detections in last three weeks)
Good; why is it so important ?
Just curious ![]()

al968: because of http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=30335.0 and ~43000 files from VirusTotal…
